In early June,  TAP-ATX board members and leaders from other Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) programs were invited by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of the Taiwan Government to attend a week-long trip to Taiwan. A total of 38 representatives from the 9 TAP chapters, TACL National, PIP, LID Camp, and LYF Camp participated on the trip. And of those 38, 3 of them were TAP-ATX board members: Erica Brozovsky (Secretary/Treasurer), Justin Chang (VP-Internal), and myself (Sharon Hsu-President).

The trip was an educational, fun, and rewarding experience. We explored Taiwan, learned more about Taiwanese culture, and attended formal governmental workshops and lectures. Here are my top 5 highlights from the trip:

1. Learning Tai Chi at Cloud Gate Dance Theater

2. Making dragonbeard candy and etching our own tea cups in Yilan
3. Eating at the world famous Din Tai Fung

4. Touring the Presidential Office Building

5. Bonding with new friends and old

I’m so fortunate to have been able to take part in this first-ever TACL National Delegation to Taiwan. A special thank you goes out to the OCAC for sponsoring and organizing the trip. Shout-out also to TACL National and JC Chang from TAP-LA for all the hard work and time they put into making this trip happen! To read more about the trip, check out this blog post from TACL
